Collaborative inquiry: a methodological exploration

A TAOS workshop in collaboration with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel

This workshop happens once a year and is a collaboration between Taos Institute and the Vrije Universiteit in Brussels. The workshop  aims at helping PhD students to understand, investigate and write from a more relational perspective in research. From a social constructionist approach, research can be seen as a form of social practice that produces a particular kind of knowledge. An important idea thereby is that knowledge – also academic knowledge – is always co-constructed in and through relationships. This approach has important implications in the way research is designed and conducted.

These two days workshop, facilitated by Celiane Camargo-Borges and Jasmina Sermijn, focused on social constructionist inquiry and invited the participants to explore and reflect upon their own research design, specifically their own methodological choices.

We had 10 PhD participants from different countries such as Canada, USA, Uganda, Colombia, Czech Republic and China. The participants were very active and interactive, having the chance to dive into their own research with a reflective group supporting them to move forward with their choices
